Ro Chair
Ro is a work lounge designed for the Haworth Sponsored Class, addressing the need for a balance between privacy and activity in the workplace. Research shows that increased privacy during work often leads to more sedentary behavior. Ro responds by encouraging creative, flexible sitting positions, allowing users to feel comfortable while maintaining a professional atmosphere. This design fosters an environment that supports both productivity and movement, enhancing comfort without compromising the workplace setting.

Ideally, the Ro seat can rotate 18 degrees to the left and 22 degrees to the right, locking securely at any chosen angle. The current prototype achieves approximately 15 degrees of movement to the left and locks at any position within this range.
The seat is padded with a 2-inch thick foam and upholstered in 100% wool felt, providing both comfort and durability. A knee-tilt mechanism, rotated 90 degrees from the typical orientation, enables not only rotational movement of the seat but also height adjustment and chair swivel functionality.
